Cheese on toast, with superb ripe tomatoes and Worcestershire sauce, salt & pepper.

Barney; Having seen the state of the CV's submitted to my carpenter husband from prospective apprentices, I'm forced to agree with your assessment of the current examinations, which I suspect is endemic throughout many professions. My husband did a full apprenticeship and has C&G qualifications,...

Ahh, seed catalogues....aka 'vegetable porn!" I received the 'Plants of distinction' one yesterday, who I bought a lot from last year because I had some gift tokens; (thus ending up with too many tomato varieties!)Don't think I will be buying much from them this year (though they have got some ...

A good ole clear out.....

Bit the bullet this afternoon and cleared out my greenhouse. The few tomatoes that were still going were being targeted by a million fruit flies, so bad I was probably inhaling thousands just venturing in there! So, dismantled all the growbags and pots, soil all went into my new 600ltr supersized co...

I wonder if it's worth buying some to try first if Tesco et al are supposedly stocking them now? I read the Anthony W-T recommendation for chipping them on one of the articles from the first post- no mention of explosions (but then I guess he wouldn't if he's being paid to publicise them!!)Might be ...

I have a vague memory that these were featured in a past KG mag, ? the gent who was trying EM last year? I only remember because he spoke about them alarmingly 'exploding' when boiled or fried, and didn't have a good word to say about them, I'll try and look up the article and confirm, darn this lou...

Possibly not; they are notoriously tender, I've lost about three plants in different locations. I now take cuttings and overwinter them indoors until the last frosts.

Peter, glad the oral drugs are helping, didn't mean to scare you honest! I'm so used to giving injections and seeing people in pain, I forget how scary it can be to others. Sorry!

I too have had kidney stones, the first bout two years ago which was the worst. I had agonising back pain on one side, throwing up, delirious, finally conked out on the hall floor just after calling an ambulance, this was after my GP told me he though I had a touch of cystitis!! Turned out I had one...

My second attempt at Butternut squash has done better this year in open ground on a new lasagne bed I started this spring. But despite it making a load of fruitlets, none so far have grown into biggies, they got to about apple size, then shrivelled up! I've got another three now that look as though ...
