Ive just spotted some tomato blight in the greenhouse so I guess it has blown in through the door.

Are there any treatments I should give the greenhouse when I clean down in a couple of months?

Thanks

John

I'll jump in and ask the obvious question here...... if the 'marbles' are anything from 6" to 18" underground how do you know what stage they are at??

Thanks

Blighted spuds - just to be clear............

I should cut off the tops and burn them, the spuds should be OK but wont store well.

Is that the way it is?

Thanks as I have lots that have died down now.

I know I am an embarrassment, I even had to have one of the other plotholders point them out to me. I have been busy and my plot isnt the best managed. I also managed to grow elephant grass to 4ft high which covers a multitude of sins. I do feel quite proud of my grass though as looking around knowo...

It might help you to know that I missed 3 rows of spuds last year and this year they have just grown again and are fine. So no need to panic at least.

I'm sure others will have more info.

Maybe we should all send ours to Maz, we might get a grant from the sports council for the postage! David ps I pellet where the dogs and kids cant get at them, then introduce others to a bucket with pellets in. When I go to the tip I take the bucket of bodies and let the council bury them in a landf...

Hi My outdoor casualties were by the greenhouse door too so I had better get the copper fungicide spray too. Is that a pretty safe thing to use as the greenhouse has loads of other edible stuff in there from peppers to melons, potatoes, strawberries, lettuce, basil. Should I spray these/avoid sprayi...

White powder on Melons

Morning all,

I am growing melons in the g.house for the first time and have a white powder forming on the lower leaves.

Could anyone tell me what this is and what I should do about it?

Thanks very much,

Passion flower fruit

Morning all

In this new house I have a rampant passion flower, loads of flowers but no fruit. If memory serves the passion flower I had ten years ago also gave lots of fruit with no coaxing.

Could any one tell me whats up?

Thanks

I'm sure the experts will give chapter and verse on this but just to let you know that I grow strawberries on racks against a wall in growbags, four to a bag. Works fine and the leaves and fruit soon cover the racks.

Hope this helps

I have mine in a seed bed, do you recommend transplanting them into pots and growing them on?

There is a guy on our plots who dips the whole plants in a solution of that organic seaweed fertislizer and swears that the smell is what does it.

Hope this helps

Thanks Belinda thats very helpful.

Johnboy, I can see your problem but Ive never seen thos thing before and it is very impressive in the garden. I guess if I cut it back as Belinda says it will be controllable.
