Hi Primrose,

Sounds like that one had a lucky escape!! If they regularly nest in such conspicuous places, it's no wonder that the sparrowhawks like them. Apparently they are partial to young starlings as well.

Cold, wet and windy along the seafront this morning at 6 am. Why is it that whenever I look after my neighbour's greenhouse, it always turns cold

I've sown a few Runners this year as a token gesture, but will be growing climbing french Blauhilde and Cobra mainly. As others have said, french beans are so much nicer.

Asparagus not growing yet.

Hi all,

I've recently moved here and have an established asparagus bed. So far there is no growth. Should I be worried yet, or could it be a late variety? I haven't grown it before, so don't really know what to expect.

Lovely day here as well today. Managed to get the grass cut, and started on the second of six horizontal Junipers which are having to come out. The previous owners made some lovely flower borders in the front garden, but planted these junipers thinking that they would stay small. Apart from the odd ...

Collared Dove R.I.P.

Hi all, About 10 feet from the bungalow we've got a rose covered pergola ( if that's the right word ). About 2 weeks ago a pair of collared doves decided to build a nest right on the top. Mrs. dove has been sitting tight for the last week on her very flimsy nest with almost no cover at all. All was ...

cats

Hi All,

I moved here about 3 months ago and the garden was used by cats from all directions. I starting using this cat repellent and haven't had to pick up anything for about a month now. Hope this link works OK.
Cheers.
