Foraging

These winds are blowing the leaves off, great for making leaf mould, but more importantly I can see the Hazlenuts I missed earlier in the month, I seem to be the only person who does much foraging, there was a time when rural communities knew to supplement the garden produce. There are one or two wh...

Re: Grapes

Never grown them, but I well remember the advice of burying a dead sheep under a vine, never sure if this was a wind up or not and I have also heard of putting wool round them, but again no idea why. Funnily enough the RHS don't mention sheep at all lol https://www.rhs.org.uk/fruit/grapes/grow-your-...

Roads and bridges have been swept away nearby, a lovely old bridge at the Bridge of Dun had partially collapsed last night and the road at Marykirk has been wash...

They are setting up centres for those having to evacuate, Brechin not far from us gets the floods badly, we are on a hill top, so we might blown away, but shouldn't get the floods, we were cut off last week when it rained, don't think anyone is out in this at the moment.

Re: Greenhouses

My greenhouse has double doors, the reason I chose glass over plastic is reinforced today, 60-70 mile an hour winds have destroyed some polytunnels nearby.
