Re: 'Chargrilled' courgette chutney?

Thanks for answering, PP. Yes, I think I will give it a go. Last year, I discovered that courgettes quickly browned in a frying pan make a lovely additional layer in a lasagne, and think that a similar flavour could work well in a chutney. I will let you know the outcome.

'Chargrilled' courgette chutney?

I have made ordinary courgette chutney before, but was wondering whether to try chargrilling the courgettes first this time, to add a different flavour. Has anyone tried this, or have any views on whether or not it is worth trying?

Re: Easy ice cream - strawberry

That sounds like a great way of using up the strawberries, Plumpudding. I'm regretting ripping out nearly all my strawberry plants last year, now! I still have plenty rhubarb - do you think that would make a decent icecream, maybe?

Re: Controversial diet matters.

Hi Richard! Listen to your body ..... I know when I need something as I get a craving for it & no not always chocolate! So true. I wasn't a big veg eater when I was younger, but while living in Spain for a few months (as a mature student), I suddenly got a craving that led to me heading to the ...

Re: Mid Summer Bits and Bobs - 2017.

I've just been looking out of the window at my still-very-productive rhubarb plant, like you do (!), and it suddenly occurred to me that for the first year ever, it hasn't been sending up continuous flowers stalks. I removed a couple of flower buds early in the season but none since! Seems strange, ...

Re: Mid Summer Bits and Bobs - 2017.

Dear Mouse, i put Bert into the search button and it came back with all the old laughs we used to have....funny times indeed... Talking of laughs - i can't believe that the thread I started back in 2010, asking for more 'funnies', is still running! I had almost forgotten what a friendly and amusing...

Re: Mid Summer Bits and Bobs - 2017.

I sowed one last, small, batch of French beans, cabbage, salad onions and mangetout two weeks ago, and they are all growing strongly now - well, apart from the salad onions, which germinated exceptionally quickly but never ever grow quickly for me! I am trying to time things so i have lots to enter ...

Re: The Giant Marrow Topic!

Mine weren''t free, but are Green Bush 2 - can i join in?

I sowed them 11 May, and they have just started producing. If i can't join in officially, I will just make do with competing ' virtually' :)

Re: The Giant Marrow Topic!

Thanks, Pa. I have a lot at catching up to do regarding the forums, but as luck would have it, that's the very marrow I am growing this year. That said, I also grew them last year but came nowhere near winning with it in our village show!

Re: Sitting and admiring your plot

When I had my allotment, I came to the conclusion that 'pottering' was an optical illusion, something that other people appeared to be doing on their plots but that seemed totally impossible to me. Now that I grow all my fruit and veg in my back garden, I have realized that I was wrong - i can final...

Re: The Giant Marrow Topic!

I've not been on here for ages (so long that I had forgotten both exact username and password, so have re-registered with a very similar name!), so could someone fill me in on what the marrow challenge is about? I'm trying to grow a marrow big enough to enter in our village show in September, so am ...
