Thank you Johnboy

I knew you would help me and I must add that I did plant the Pentland Brig because of your advice in some previous post and I don't regret it just waiting for the spears now but I have plenty of Purple Sprouting right now.

Thank you.

Hi

My Cavolo Nero is sprouting and I would like to know if I still can eat the spears as it does look like green sprouting broccoli.

and when is Pentland Brig sprouting? as I can't see any spear yet?

Many thanks

Shallots

Hello Everyone

I planted 2 types of shallots, Jermor last November and Redsun in March.

The Jermor are doing very well but the Redsun are starting to flowers.

Should I cut the buds, dig them up?

I wanted to pickle the Redsun, are they still ok for this?

Thank you for your help.

Elderflowers cordial

Hi

I find a recipe for the above which use tartaric acid to preserve it up to a year but I could not find any.
I have some citric acid, could I use it instead and do you think it will keep this long if not drank before of course.

Thank you for your help

Hi There are so many flowers for cutting to grow, I always grow dalhias, try dark ones(everyone were commenting on them last year on my plot), chrysanthemums for the late season. Buy 1 now and do cuttings of it. You got all the annuals to play with too Marigold, Californian Poppy,Cornflower,Larkspur...

They were very good, walk where they were suppose to, etc...

They are coming back after Easter, more things to look at.

It was a first here in Ashford and when I visited the allotment shop the week after, they all heard about it!

I am really looking forward to the next visit.

Garlic

How much cold does garlic need?

Because here in the South-East I don't think we even had 2 weeks of frost this winter.
Is this enough?

It is my first year growing garlic and it would be so nice to have a good harvest.

Thank you

I think everyone should grow some flowers, they are so easy and so beautifull. You can have cut flowers from May/June with sweetpeas up to November with dalhias. I still have a few ranunculus flowering (I am talking about 3!) but I am amazed we are in February!!! and for a wedding how marvellous, yo...

Coffee

Hi Everyone

I read somewhere that Starbuck is giving used coffee free to gardener.

But I would like to know why? What does it bring to your soil?

Thanks
