Brilliant,

I just knew somebody would be able to come up with something. First job in morning is to retrieve the dozen jars I put in our recycling bin earlier tonight

Grateful Thanks

Re: Burning Issues of the Day

Tues 30th Dec Like many people we try to recycle useful items and are forever building up our stock of jars with lids ready for the new seasons marmalade / jam / preserve making sessions My issue is with companies who use label adhesives that are almost impossible to remove. The label part comes off...

Re: Any rare birds visiting your gardens?

There is only one bird I resent feeding, the damn Heron.

Re: Burning Issues of the Day

Primrose, I guess that depends on the variety and age of the seeds. This year most of ours will be freshly purchased as we had far too many that failed to germinate properly. Amazingly we struggled to get even lettuce of various types to grow. Had a good sort through and throw out on basis of not wi...

Re: Compost accelerator

Huh! I'm surprised they don't make blokes with special hose-lock fittings    Know how you all love a good gadget!

Of course the snag with that is that being the internet hose lock type fittings would never be big enough

Re: Burning Issues of the Day

I say was because the sponge cake turned out a disaster, my first attempt and it's supposed to be easy . The issue now is shall I attempt another or persuade Ma Snip t...

Re: Late harvest

Nothing unexpected for us this year but when it has happened in the past the crop has always seemed to taste just that much better for being unexpected.

Re: Compost accelerator

they also come with a little length of tube so you can have an extension

I'm guessing it would be on the Central line, but puts a completely different complexion upon 'Mind The Gap'

I'm so glad us males don't have such issues to contend with

Re: Any rare birds visiting your gardens?

Our Niger feeders attract around 30 to 40 goldfinches at a time, at this time of year we occasionally spot one or two redpolls or siskins amongst them. Over the last five years we noticed an absence of sparrows, this year we are pleased to see they are back in numbers. Conversely the number of Starl...

I'm just a bit older than you Peter and my science fiction included things like Fireball XL5 and 'IT' was something you couldn't wait to try with a 'fitbit' in the 60's. Smartphones are far too technical for me, my mobile only does what phones were made to do.... make and receive phone calls and tha...
