Is there a restaurant that could grow their own ... better still a hospital what with all the talk on hospital food at the moment. It the schools have good planning the harvest could be done by the enthusiastic kids and given to the food bank. Schools are missing a great opportunity to get children ...

Thanks Westi, I am growing buckets one is in a cold frame so guess I can just shut the top, the others were in a plastic green house until it go blown down but should be easy make wood fame for the plastic cover.

I grow these as well usually eat before they get red as do not find they taste any different. Found my chillies have been late getting hot. Any way you can tell by looking if they are hot?

I believe if your compost heap gets hot then any damage plant can be put there.

"We covered it last year, but the whitefly was so awful"

Had similar problem last year been spraying with garlic solution which looks to be keeping them away.

Would local schools be interested? Maybe divide a plot up into smaller units with raised beds then use one raised bed to show what can be grown as an example for others to follow and include easy to follow plan. Use the pollytunnel to grow seeds and maybe allow other plot holders to use it. How abou...

Sounds a good idea however my peeling are thin & go straight into the compost bin.

Regards the "volunteers" as you call them seemed to have them all over my plot, left over from previous owner.

Filling my latest raised bed number 8 yesterday with homemade compost I noticed the different bugs/worms/spiders etc in & around the compost. Would have thought this is what is needed for good harvest not sterilised lifeless soil? No major issues with weed seeds as they temp gauge goes in to the...

I have the opinion that the treatment costs in a dogs later years is worth it for the pleasure the dog gives you in it’s younger years.

When I sowed the spring onions I used the multi seed method 8/10 per cell for spring onions pulled the good looking ones first and left others in ground.

Sow 6/7 for bulbs which I have not tried yet.
