Chantal Do not be ashamed of being afraid of needles. I am a 100% true blue coward and shut my eyes when one is shown on TV.. and cannot watch injections.. mine or anyone else's. So compared to me you are very brave.. Hope you suffer no ill effects. I find gin has medicinal properties when taken int...

I find latex gloves make my hands sweat and as I have an occasional attack of peeling skin..(an old attack caused by welding damage to skin)... I need some protection. I use Neutrogena hand cream instead for any gardening ( and thick gloves for rough work) and save the latex gloves for garage work o...

I had a similar problem with our 24 year old greenhouse. A morning on a ladder with a gun of clear silicone mastic (£2.50) on a dry and warmish day solved it.

We bought our first and only greenhouse from Tesco in 1984 - an AGL Pentland 8x6. It is bare aluminium and we bought it with galvanised steel base, guttering , an opening top window and a louvred side window. Simple horticutural glass. In that time we have had 3 broken panes - football - so toughene...

I started growing when we moved to our current house some 20 years ago. I started with the easy things and being a simple soul have continued on that way. I can recommend raspberries: minimal work all year but delicious fruit which is much better than bought and much cheaper. Glen Ample - mentioned ...

We have some flattened worms in Staffordshire: normal size with round heads and flattened middle body. Seem normal otherwise. As far as red composting worms are concerned, my experience is that if you start a compost heap on bare earth, the red worms will eventually find your heap. And then propagat...
