Re: Brokoli and kale?

Afternoon Primrose Am green with envy. My mum used to have a fruit cage full of black/red currants, gooseberries and a blackberry. Unfortunatly she could no longer look after it, and at the time I was working unusual hours so the whole thing turned into a jungle. But hopefully this year I will be ab...

Confused about feeding carrots

Good afternoon peeps

I had always though that you were not allowed to feed carrots (because of the chance of forking), but in this months issue about the carrot family it talked about feedin them.

Does this mean that you can? And if so what type? potash based, nitrogen etc.

Brokoli and kale?

Afternoon everyone, I have a strange question for you here. I know that you are not allowed to grow brocolli and the like in the same ground, it neding to be rotated every three years. But can you plant an early variety and when that is finished plant a later one in the same ground, and then use it ...

Re: Pot grown vegetable

Morning Bren I have just seen your post. I agree with what has been said above. I have for years grown potatoes in bags filled with compost (due to a lack of space), I use compost and put some potato fertiliser in at the start, and again when I put more compost in to fill the bag. So far this has wo...

Re: best shallots?

Afternoon Diane I grew for the first time last year Vigarmor from D T Brown. It grew really well with a lot of foliage, which hid 6 to 8 shallots. They were all uniform of a teardrop shape with a lovely flavour. Also easy to peal so no need to spend 10 minutes fighting with the outer layers. The fla...

But I have found an old fork with wide tines not round ones can be pressed down with the seedling you wish to keep in t...

Thrips I think??

Ok I appologise in advance for this vague rubbish explination. Can anyone tell me if the damage on my courgette is thrips. The leaf veins left intact but most of the rest of the leaf gone. If this is the case how do you get rid of the blighters. Ohhh should of mentioned the cold frame they were in w...

How to make seaweed fertiliser?

Hi everybody,

Hope you are all fit and well.

Just wondering how to make seaweed fertiliser? Also once made what quantities to dilute it?

And can you mix in nettles to the mix? Have practically a hedge most years!! But good for the butterflies so just cut back if in danger of attacking me.
