Re: Moving Shallots!

Hi Westi, Is it possible to put the tunnel up leaving the shallots inside or will they take up too much room?. Alternativly do as Primrose suggests.

Regards,
Gerry.

Re: Mares Tail

I remember Johnboy saying that whichever weed killer you use, better results will be achieved if the plant is crushed or bruised before aplying. Please, please, please, come back Johnboy, you were such a help to us all.

Regards,
Gerry.

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs - 2018

Got a real suprise this morning to find we had a scattering of snow. The first for several years. However the sun and 8c soon saw that off and I did get a bit done outside.

Re: I would have missed that.

I have now had a reply from Premier Seeds as follows... "Please note we only use Paypal and Worldpay to process payments. For both sites all the details at the point of entry are held off our server and are fully secure for both payment gateways at 2 of the largest global payment providers"...

I would have missed that.

Yesterday I was ordering seeds from www.premierseedsdirect.com, a site reccomended on here a while ago. I had noted that the site was secure (http & the padlock) while I was composing the order. But as I was about to enter my card details a warning from Firefox flashed up saying that the site wa...

Re: Tree Canker

Hi Westi, According to an old gardening book which I have. It seems that Brown Rot spores damage flower stalks and young shoots of apples, pears, peaches, plums, cherries and related ornamental trees. The brown lesions on the wood 0develope into cracks and cankers which may encircle the stems. Later...

Re: Please can we have some more 'funnies'?

Every time I see a post from John Boy it reminds me of an incident that happened to me in his neck of the woods. In the early 1960s I used to travel from Manchester to Swansea most Fridays, to visit a girlfriend. One time I stopped off overnight near Leominster and was invited to a Young Farmers par...

OH, Two dozen stamps, I suppose that was your mum's pension gone.

The cost of stamps here is ridiculous. €1 for mail within Ireland and €1.35 to UK.

You lot won't be getting any cards, from me this year .

Re: Rust on leeks

No rust on my leeks either.
However the Zermat I grew this year all bolted.

Could it be because I started them off in the poly tunnel? (Then planted them outside). The tunnel has netting for the first two feet all round and netting, full height, on double doors at both ends.

Re: Help choosing a mower!

I put a new deck on my Honda ride-on this season.
Before fitting, I painted the deck with smooth Hammerite and I polished the inside of the plastic schute with Carplan black trim wax.
The difference this made was unbelieveable, better, I would say, than when the mower was new.

Re: Strange sky this afternoon

After the huricane on Monday we were without electricity, phone and internet until 7.15 pm yesterday (Friday). Luckily we have a gas hob and a multi fuel stove. The forcast now is for a storm today. It rained all day yesterday and today, with lots of flooding on the roads. Trees down everywhere but ...
