Re: A view of my garden
Thanks Primrose. I don't do much rotating as this is all no dig, topped up with home made & council compost + manure. Last year I had tomatoes growing to the roof on the right & bush toms on the left the far end was not a bed just had chilli/peppers in buckets. This year growing toms to the ...

Re: A view of my garden
I used the green rings last year but found it a pain to keep filling them as water did not seem to stay in them long.
Added a soak hose for the beds & will use drip line for hanging baskets.
Good to be able to get on with other work whilst hose is on and does not appear to wet the plants.

Re: Composting & Washington state
My compost rule says "Certain things should never be placed in your Bin" First item is "Bones"..... Think there are a few of those in me. Also "soiled tissues" ...Could be another one as I am always getting told off for putting my cloths in for a wash without emptying m...

Re: Spring proper, Bits and Bobs.
Just got settled down to fill raised bed when a swarm of bees arrived on neighbours tree other side of the fence.
Went round to the neighbour at the bottom of the garden to tell him as he has couple of bee hives unfortunately he was out.
So had to down tools and put kettle on.

Re: I cannot be not worried about this...
When I first started growing veg I read the square foot gardening book, this told you how much water each plant need measured in cup size.
It seemed a lot less water was needed compared to using how/watering can.
If you have water butts a long way from you bed consider using a bilge pump (£12 ish).

As we are an island we are surrounded by water so why can't we use it.
It will take some planning & expense to set up but hey the water companies arnt poor.
I did less watering last year compared to my plot neighbour, could it be because I do no dig and he likes to dig his over?

Planted my "Early Onward" peas & "Streamline" runner beans.
Peas were started off using the guttering principal, when I came to put in car though the guttering was a bit to long.
Message to self "Cut guttering to fit car".

Interesting feature of a garden centre in Kent on gardeners World, on how they are using alternatives to plastic. Their mission is not allowing any plastic to leave their site.

Looking good on the plot pole up for beans, salad bed doing well & test bed from book I'm reading is doing well.
Only issue I have is ants, loads of them everywhere, red & black, going to try boric acid method to get rid of them.
