Bit of a dilemma

I have a very large yellow azalea bush - about 8 foot high and about 5 - 6 foot wide now...looks and smells beautiful in the spring when the blossoms are out. Now growing up and through this huge lump of yellowness are two old fashioned roses. I think they are David Austin's...can't remember the nam...

Lily beetles

Well, I've learnt something new. Apparently lily beetles scream when you pick them off a lily and it makes all the other lily beetles throw themselves to the ground. (from Hampton Court programme). I've just been out to inspect my lilys but not a l b to be found so I can't confirm. They must have be...

Re: Garden wildlife

Not seen a hedgehog for years now. Lots of the usual garden birds but nothing exotic. But the pigeons keep having fights in the trees all around. Lots of very loud flapping - sounds like chuck out time at the pub on a Saturday night.

Re: I'm trying to decide what to do with my rhubarb this winter

Looking on the interweb - it seems it doesn't really matter - autumn, winter or spring (but not summer). So I guess whenever you have a couple of hours when you feel like donning wellies and getting out the spade and fork. It's a really tough plant. A friend has been trying to kill a root of rhubarb...

Re: Rust on mint

I just cut mine right down to the ground - the new leaves just grow again and are usually ok.

Re: Kale leaves are edible!

I chop up the stems of kale and brocolli and steam them until soft-ish - then swirl a knob of butter and sprinkle with a little pepper. Or garam masala or poppy seeds and lemon juice. Really tasty. The leaves of kale are lovely chopped up and added to the rice when making a curry or other savory ric...

I've just read in the paper that we are actually having a summer - but it's stuck in the middle of the Atlantic.

Re: A view of my garden

Hi Westi - I was lucky and found it in one of our charity shops in Wimborne a few years ago. I use it mostly when I go to plant sales. It gives me a little buffer space when there's an extremely desirable plant on the stall and there's about half a dozen other keen gardeners trying to buy it. I'm no...

Re: What crops do you keep for the seeds?

I always keep seeds from tomato (as long as it's not a hybrid), beans, peas and not forgetting the dark sunflowers which alwas seem to come true to last year's colours.

adding a video

How do I add a video (of my plants) to my post, please? Tried the usual way of adding pics but the site won't accept a video. It plays on Facebook and Messenger but not here.
