Re: Starting a fruit cage

Thank you Peter. I'm thinking of 6 bushes - three raspberry on one side of a small path, plus two gooseberry and one blackcurrent on the other. We both like raspberries, I love goosegogs, and a blackcurrent just for fun No, we are not into jam making but we have a big freezer and like all sorts of f...

Starting a fruit cage

Dear All I've decided to cut down on the heavy work on the veg plot (I'm getting too old! ) and thought I might turn part of it into a soft fruit growing area, instead of just grassing it over. I've never grown soft fruits before, but assume that after they're planted the work involved is basically ...

Re: For frying out loud!!

Yes, OK I know we are just being jokey, but I don't go along with cracks about women not being logical. I have a woman doctor and when she prescribed a cream to rub into a certain part of my anatomy I said that I thought that if I was under BUPA the doctor would have rubbed it in for me. Her reply w...

Re: For frying out loud!!

As a member of our local U3A I joined their Discussion Group, which I found to be monopolised by two ladies who were into the 'animal welfare' thing and always got the subject round to this. One meeting we started discussing the Iraq invasion and one of these ladies said she thought Blair and Bush w...

Don't worry about Virgin, Gerry. I'm told by a neighbour there's a new airline at Gatwick - Air Viagra. Slogan is: We get you up, we never let you down and we get rid of Virgins everywhere.

Hi Smallweed,
Perhaps you've noticed that though they both thrive in Beds, OH is superior to OC - he lives in BEAUTIFUL Beds! :D

Re: Swiss army garden tool

Thanks, OH & GS, for your kind comments. Harriet drew it herself, but the original, I gather, was in a book given to her dad at Christmas. She's quite a girl - into Badminton, Karate and Astronomy!

This drawing was sent to me by my 14 year old grand-daughter, Harriet, in her thankyou note for Christmas pressies. Thought it might give you all a smile!

I really feel for all you disadvantaged souls north of Watford. Just been out and trimmed our palm trees, picked up a few nuts I'd missed earlier. Oh, sorry my mistake, they were from my little golden monkeys.
Happy New Year to you all and great cropping.

Re: JUSTICE FOR PENSIONERS

As a pensioner and Nationwide saver for many years I'm annoyed that they've cut out any interest on their Flexaccount (current account), unless you pay in over £1500 a month. Talk about giving to the well-off! I know you can move your money into and out of their e-savings (3%) thro' the computer, bu...

Chantal - When I was in the RAF I was chatting to a Canadian pilot in the mess one evening and he said 'Your country surprises me, you get Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter". I said "Don't you get the 4 seasons?" and he replied "Not all in one day!" Catherine- I do envy you ...

What's got me worried now is that with six acres to roam in, Rocky might fall prey to Reynard? Oh, God, if you had a webcam we'd end up with the Rocky Horror Show! (Sorry :( )

Sorry to come in on this a bit late, but may I suggest you get a cheap webcam and set it up overlooking Rocky's new pasture? You can then keep an eye on the old roue - and perhaps we can all join in and enjoy the fun!
