What good weather for a change!
I rad an article in independent mentioning hawthorn chutney. Any of you guys tried it? I have lots of berries I could use.

white fly on brassicas - white dusting on leaves

Hi All, I have ventured into my brassicas cages this afternoon and find them alight with white fly and a sort of dusting on the leaves. The plants though are growing well if a bit brittle. They are mostly brussels and psb because underplanting with cabbage was a really silly idea!!! Any suggestions?...

green beans in unheated greenhouse

Hi We eat lots of green beans and having enjoyed them all summer I can't seem to face buying them in over winter. I am going to grow winter salads in some window boxes on my gravel bed in my unheated green house would it work for dwarf benas too? I thought maybe pongo? Your help as usual appreciated...

I have about 2/3rd of a compost bin's worth of last year's leaves rotted down from 2 bins originally. What is best to use it for? I have about another bin's worth of ordinary compost(household /allotment/coffee grains and shredded paper) well rotted now Should I mix the two together and spread as a ...

strawberry popcorn + phacelia

Hi, I am going to try moving my squashes,courgettes etc out of their growbags which they seem to hate (som-one insisted I have them when I had no more space!!). Also am going to try strawbery popcorn for fun and some phacelia for the bees. Who knows it's my first year so it's all an experiment! Penny

some enterprising soul has broken our padlock driven half way up the road and tipped all his builders rubbish in the road... and I thought allotments were meant to relieve stress! Penny
