Two friars are having trouble paying off repairs to the belfry, so they open a florist shop. Everyone wants to buy flowers from the men of God so business is quickly b(l)ooming. The florist across town sees a huge drop in sales and asks the two friars to close their shop, but they refuse. A month la...

Re: Please can we have some more 'funnies'?

GOOD SAMARITAN A Sunday school teacher was telling her class the story of the Good Samaritan. She asked the class, “If you saw a person lying on the roadside, all wounded and bleeding, what would you do?” A thoughtful little girl broke the hushed silence, “I think I’d throw up.” DID NOAH FISH? A Sun...

AND... For those of you who watch what you eat, here’s the final word on nutrition and health. It’s a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies. 1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suff...

Why we need hyphens:
Because working twenty four-hour shifts is not the same as working twenty-four hour shifts or working twenty-four-hour shifts.

Re: Please can we have some more 'funnies'?

That reminds me of when we occasionally went to Latin Mass from school and one part sounded just like 'Jesus had some jam for tea'.

Re: Please can we have some more 'funnies'?

While stitching a cut on the hand of a 75 year old farmer, whose hand was caught in the squeeze gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to politicians and their role as our leaders. The old farmer said, "Well, as I see it,...

Re: A strange event.

Thank you for telling us the rest of the story. There are lots of wonderful people out there who may seem a bit strange on first appearance but a little bit of help and they blossom.

Re: A strange event.

An interesting story. Could he have been a WWOOFer which I think stands for World Wide Experience On Organic Farms. When we had livestock and before that small scale commercial horticulture I had young local lads appear and work all summer just for food. They would work hard and were completely trus...

Re: "the cat did it!"

When our daughter came to live with us she brought her staffy, Lilly, which raised the question of how things would pan out with her and our 18 year old cat, Domino. Lilly hated cats and chased them mercilessly but she hadn't met Domino. Donino's last six months were the happiest of his life. He did...

Things turn up in the strangest place.

Our local bottled gas supplier provides an excellent service, prompt and good prices. When Christine was in there shop recently she noticed a chalk board with a list of compost etc. for sale - just what you expect in a gas shop. Well, I have been looking to buy some garden lime, 10Kg+. I needed to o...

Re: Life gets interestin' don'it?

Oldherbaceous with recent a mind to recent history in Rotherham you could be horribly near the truth. Primrose by the time I had finished my jobs and got back down to the house nearly an hour had passed so there was precious little the police could have done. Fortunately it was not a shotgun, albeit...
