How often should you feed cucumbers?

Well I guess I'm having more luck that you! Mine are in a polytunnel, planted in the border. They don't look unhealthy, it's just don't seem to be growing even though they have been there a month. Do you know how much water they need? I wondered if I might be under/over watering them.

Westi, my plants don't seem to be doing much at all. Have you had any significant growth, or is it a case of waiting?

I'm thinking of planting mine at the end of my plot where it gets partial shade. ie, this time of year we're talking about 5/6pm, it's in shade, in March or November that would be more like 2pm. Is that going to be a problem?

I'm told that Comfrey is a wonder plant when it comes to composting, but I also read that it is invasive.
I'd be interested to know what people to do keep it under control.
Do I need box it in with some flag stones or similar?

PLUMPUDDING, what's the longest, in your view, you should leave them without feeding them? Is it ok to go away for a long weekend? A week?
