What a World!
I was bemoaning the fact that I had some plants stolen only to be informed that someone had been on the plots and killed loads of chickens. Separate incidents and different folk have had their girls beaten to death. When they do those profiles on mass murderers they quite often find animal cruelity ...

Re: Pumpkins
Perhaps that is something we could do via the forum - create a new Pumpkin / Squash. My favourite is Queensland Blue or Crown Prince but I would cross them with a smaller sized one to create something you don't need an axe to get into! Market it well and grow it on our plots and gardens and we could...

Re: Sweet Potatoes?
Hi PeterGreenMan They look fine. Mine were in pots some the size of the one in your picture and the others as wide but not as deep. Despite the foliage being pretty even in growth the roots were quite variable - some of them filled the pot and the others were quite sparse. When I bought slips they w...

Poorly Pear
Help Needed My Pear Tree started to get leaves turning black and dying and now it is progressing to the branches with the whole end of the branches going brittle and dying. At first I thought it was my neighbour who had been spraying Round Up as it was so patchy like it was wind blown and only on on...

Onions Flowering!
I can't beleive it - my overwintering onions are already getting flowerheads. I nip them off but it is a pain as they really don't store very well when they flower. It is mainly the red onions but noticed a couple on my shallots as well. I know I am pretty far south but not that temperate! Looks lik...

Re: seeds have arrived.
I've got an e-mail to say mine will be in the
next wave which will be too late to plant
so to save them for next year.
Obviously don't have the same connections
as OH!!

Peach Leaf Curl
Despite using copper treatment and nipping out the first shoots, my peach trees have succumbed again. It doesn't look quite as bad as last year as not so much red tinge but I have loads of little fruit from hand pollinating and would love to get some maturing. I have an old book 'Gardener's Enquire ...

Planting Diary
Hi As I just finished another entry in my Diary I would like to computerise it so can easier cross reference planting times, sites etc. Would anyone be able / willing to put an attachment of their style / plan so I have something to go on. Just excell doesn't seem to fit the bill or I'm not clever e...

Re: Gardener's World is pants
Hi Primrose While I agree with you it would be a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face if they did, particularly in light of the growing interest in gardening. (excuse the pun ) I think it needs a revamp and prehaps get viewer feedback rather than producers who think they know what we lik...

Re: Fruit on kiwis
Hi Glallotments My vine is 3 years old. I trimmed it back neatly in the first year and got no fruit at all, last year only took the tips off that got frosted and this year have fruit forming so I think I may have cut off the fruit bearing stems the first time. If you haven't pruned yours it may well...

Re: Sweet Potatoes?
Hi PeterGreenMan Look at Junes issue Pg 52/53 as it has the info you want. Also search this site for other ways to get your own slips from supermarket bought Sweet Potatoes. Having an advantage of location I am putting my 19 plants in tomorrow (from 3 bought sweet potatoes). The smallest is about a ...

Re: Gardener's World is pants
I don't know whether it was them or just the event but watching the Malvern Show bits was also so predictable. Where is the originality of these designers? For the last few years they have been chruning out the same thing which just seem to superimpose themselves at each show. It is not even a case ...

Re: Could this be Asparagus?
Looks like what I've been harvesting - clear around it
very carefully no digging etc as there will be others
underneath waiting to come up and enjoy the lucky
find - might be more somewhere else in the garden
as sometimes self sows.

Re: PIZZA
Hi Vivienz Tried your recipe last night - got the taste I was after just need to get it a bit thinner and I'm on my way. Was going to have it sooner but showing off twirling it around, dropped it and dog got it! Lesson learnt - I am not an Italian Pizza Maker, I am inherently clumsy, the dogs are ve...

Re: Gardeners' World: sour grapes
Did you watch 'How Britain Got the Gardening Bug' last night? A bit of liscence with the more recent trends but good for the historical bit. I never knew Alan Titmarsh had such bad hair days! Can't say I agreed with the view of all the commentors but it was interesting seeing the botched up 'makeove...
