Re: Marshalls seed growing guide

No matter how ruthless I try to be I just can't throw out a perfectly good plant so I always pot on both seedlings if they look healthy & yes, always have too many plants but there are plenty of things to make, ways to store or give away.

Re: ROCK DUST - again

As would I PP. My soil is very sandy & even though it's been improved quite a lot I know when it rains significantly it just leeches away the nutrients. It is for this reason I would like some information as the term Dust in the name pretty much means to me it too would just wash down out of the...

Re: Any rare birds visiting your gardens?

I used to be a bit jealous of your sightings but I have Sparrows & Starlings on my feeder with the occasional Robin & Finch of one sort of another. I'm very happy to see the Starlings as their numbers are dropping & the Sparrows are also in a bit of bother! I am happy with these wee bird...

Re: Allium Leaf Miner

I agree - got to cover them with mesh until it too cold for any critters to invade. I do love taking it off though as I really like the look of leeks standing with a touch of frost on them, especially the ones with the purple tint on the leaves.

And still it continues! Another incident today - must be very unsettling for everyone. Not reassuring that it is so close to home & this country is also a target.

Re: 2015 Big Allotment Challenge

Totally agree Chantal about The Allotment, really informative & encouraging. I'm going to dig it (while we're on puns), out & re-watch it as I can't quite remember the detail! Was this the one with the Caribbean chap that built his own smoke house & smoked chicken for his lottie picnic /...

Re: Burning Issues of the Day

My burning issue today was how long extra to allow myself to get dressed this morning! I cut back the hedge row at the back of lottie as the farmer behind had trimmed it his side so it looked a mess. I left my pruning saw at home & some one nicked my hacksaw so being a determined fool I ploughed...

Re: Filbert

Two of my cats generally have a go at most things meat or vege & have a bit of a fetish for a while but then go off it just as quickly! My dog Ambush however remains true to her favorites which is Sweet Potato or Pumpkin raw or cooked & Runner Beans which I grow at home just for her and she ...

Re: 2015 Big Allotment Challenge

Can't say it did it for me. This opening episode didn't really introduce the growers very well and they all came across as a bit bland and forced.
It will depend what is on the other channels whether I watch it again.

Commendable Tigger! Service's to Dementia should be recognized, the poor individuals suffering it may not realize they are actually dying & neither do their friends & family. The saddest thing is the way the poor individuals get into the institution called the NHS! Not the best place for tho...
