22 fairies kicking a bag of wind around for a month, sounds like hell.

Now 30 men passing an oval ball around, thats a proper sport and its world cup, of which England are holders is in 2007.

Ian, I grew a shallot called "prisma" from seed last year and found it to be excellent. It grew into single shallots that were an even size, kept very well and tasted devine. I planted some of them this year to see how they go on when planted as shalots rather than from seed, plus sowed an...

Mushroom compost is fine Haggis. Also I plant my carrots in very old manure and they are fine, its not the fact that its manure that causes them to fork but the manures consistency, if its lumpy they fork, if its nice and loamy like the stuff I use they dont (well mine never have).

Tis the food of the Devil Chez. We have several packets that I hide in the seed box so I dont have to sow it for the old bird.

I suppose now that its on the forum I had better attempt to grow some

Old H

How could you be so cruel? I was getting all excited reading your post - until I got to the last line that is

When you're eating all that lovely coriander, do make sure you chop it nice and fine, so as not to choke on it you understand

Sweet dreams

Thanks very much Tigger. Piglet's just gone off to work (damn shame!) but I know he will be delighted. I, on the other hand, wonder if anyone has a tiny bit of coriander to spare. Piglet doesn't like it so doesn't think it's worth squeezing in anywhere, but I absolutely love it but not worth growing...

Does anybody have any spare "proper" parsley they could bring to Malvern? I have flat-leaved parsley but not the curly stuff. In addition, any sweet Basil will be gratefully received. Thanks.

Your tomatoes wont need feeding until they set fruit after which you can feed weekly or fortnightly depending upon feed and strength given. I have never fed courgettes as I plant them into a hole filled with manure and replace the plants around August when the first ones succumb to mildew or run out...

The buzzards may well take ducks but the Red Kites are primarily scavengers and shouldnt be a problem.

Lizzie - sorry to hear of your struggles. I know, it does take a tremendous amount of willpower not to smoke. Have you tried those awful Nicorette plastic cigarettes at all? I have found them quite helpful. They are quite nasty when you take a puff and they "catch" the back of your throat ...
