We had heavy sleet yesterday mixed in with rain we have not had anything resembling spring

Terrible day here none stop heavy rain and sleet all day , I went to a local farm for a bale of straw to put in the chicken run to try and get them out of the mud I got a thorough soaking for my troubles

We did the same last year turned one of the raised beds into a strawberry bed planted them through weed membrane than put straw down both sides of each row what few strawberries we got where clean but we did not get a lot hoping for a better crop this year

I'm still moving top soil we had a dryish day yesterday and made the most of it but I'm aching from top to bottom I'm getting to old for this game ,a few years ago I moved thirty tons in three hours I think it will take me three weeks to move this lot

We have bought thirty ton between three of us we actually received forty ton it was a mate of a mate who got it for us it's a bit hush hush we paid him £100 only problem is I was the last drop as I'm on the end of the allotment the gate is at the bottom of my plot I finished up with the extra ten ton
