Never been to Cornwall before, that will then leave me about two more counties to visit i...

Hi Johnboy,
I was thinking that they were going to seed too early and if used then those plants would be doing the same. You could end up with a crop of plants going to seed all the time and none any use for the table.

Hi piglet if those shallots that have gone to seed are sown, will they not be genetically predisposed to premature bolting? We were taught that if you get premature bolting, don't use for propagating as their progeny would be liable to do the same. I bought some banana shallots from the local shop p...

Ceredigion say that they have a great recycling service. They used to issue green bags, black bags and clear bags for recyclables9except glass). They now only issue clear bags and you have to supply your own black and buy the green. The lorry then comes around, all the bags are thrown in and then cru...

Hi Johnboy I was being a bit tongue in cheek. My friend whose garden it is planted in, gets very worried when plants are cut. We have the same discussion every year in late winter because the garden is bare. But come midsummer when all the herbaceous plants have regrown it is the overcrowded. I'm no...

I planted one last year and have cut it back to about a foot in april. I was told by the grower that the best time to cut back is in april. He said to cut back to ground level. I hope he was right or I will be in trouble.

I'm ok. It was such a stupid time last time it was on that I had to learn to set the video. I haven't forgotten how to do it! Must find out what I have done with the videos I had bought.
