Re: Wellies

We have Aigles (me) and Le Chameau (Tim). The Chameau are worn everyday and all around our local shoot during the season. We both have the neoprene lined ones and never have cold toes! I have had mine for 3 years now and fully expect another 3 years or so service (being a delicate lady of course, mi...

Re: "Organic food loses our taste test – surprised?" - Which

Elle sums it up very well, her produce was wonderful because she used her own made compost but disqualifies herself as organic because she used non accredited slug pellets and we do not know what fungicide she used on her Potatoes...Power to your elbow Elle because you have used your common sense a...

Re: "Organic food loses our taste test – surprised?" - Which

Well, I have ploughed through the article and comments and my initial thought is that our conversations on this forum have a similar base of experience, knowledge, scepticism and fervour as any contributed to Which. I have read the 'study', but it seems rather a storm in a teacup to me. There is no ...

Re: Truck wreck.

I did a similar manoeuvre myself about 3 months after passing my test many years ago - thank god there was nothing like that hole in the vicinity. Oh, my, goodness, as they say...

Thanks Alan, I had put them in the greenhouse in anticipation of advice, so I will leave them there and see what happens.

Sorry to hear about yours :(

Re: Watercress for winter

I have just bought 2 lovely fresh bunches of watercress from our greengrocers and one has lots of roots on the stems, so I would really like to give planting some out a go. I have read carefully through the other link (thanks Alan) and am reasonably confident about how to go about it. Just one quest...

Not sure how long I can keep it a secret, though. Of course, if the weather is good, I could just go off to the lottie every morning and let him think that I am going to work as usual!

I like that idea! Very sneaky

Re: Chitting Potatoes

Thanks guys, potatoes all now in the light - hopefully they will behave How do you go about not chitting JohnBoy? The potatoes were delivered and have started sprouting - what can be done to avoid this? Could I have done something different that would have kept them 'as delivered' for longer? Do you...

Re: Chitting Potatoes

Dear Alan,

Thank you, so if I whip them up to the same place as the others will they slow up a bit? We are talking just tiny buds at the moment, nothing I could call a shoot.

Re: Who's going where.

We're fortunate enough to have a modest holiday base down in East Sussex so I expect we'll be heading off down there fairly regularly. No airport delays, no lost baggage, no security check, no huge fees for airport parking. Bliss Ours is in Florida, so that will be us doing the delays, lost luggage...

Re: Chitting Potatoes

Ok, reviving this thread as slightly panicking. My chosen varieties arrived about 2 weeks ago. I put the International Kidneys into module seed trays on end on the bedroom windowsill (which is both cool and light) as I intend to plant these into tubs & bags that I can protect from frost. I put t...
