Re: naturebabe

Dear NB, you have been very busy in the little time you have available! :D
I was given some Robinson tall peas and planted them today in card mushroom boxes which will rot down when they go in the ground,
- you weren't worried about the mineral oils then?

Re: "Organic food loses our taste test – surprised?" - Which

Thank you for providing the answer from the magazine, I don't subscribe to which so I hadn't seen it. It seems everyone is in agreement - the 'study' or its 'conclusions' should not have been published as its findings are largely meaningless to a wider audience. The UK FSA are, in our view , wrong. ...

Re: Need advice on what to plant with what - brand new garde

Welcome to the forum New_Gardener, that sounds a magnificent start to me!! I consider myself a newbie gardener so I won't be offering any advice to you , but our very experienced members on here will be sure to. To help them you may like to add your location to your profile as that seems to be one o...

From the same link: "The use of such mechanisms for participating in formal consultations is less common, however, and critics of Twitter argue that its enforced brevity dumbs down political debate. Researchers are interested more widely in the potential for social media platforms like Twitter ...

Re: Wellies

I have a pair of cloggies Primrose, which I find great for just pottering, popping down to the chickens on a damp (not really wet) day. For me they fit the bill, but you are right they are not that sturdy as on occasion I have had a rather large blackthorn thorn come up through the sole when walking...

Re: New Year bits and bobs

I'm glad you like Dahlias too. Dear OH, I love them, they are so varied and pretty. My particular favourites are the double petal ones, but I stuck to singles last year as I read (on here I think or may be the magazine) that the doubles don't have the same pollen for the bees. In my very first gard...

Re: New Year bits and bobs

Dear OH and Alan, Can you expand on the comment about setting dahlias in trays please? I grew some dahlias from seed last year and gathered up the tubers at the end. I placed them in some dry compost to overwinter ready to grow again this year - but I would love to know what you are doing to them so...
