Westie another good investment I made was one of these cloche tunnels from Plant Belles that you put canes through loops to hold it more firm then the mesh over the top. If I remember rightly it was about £28 at the Wisley Garden Event.

Re: Repairing enviromesh
Oh Yes, Peter, I will try it out first. and Westie - I purchased these grow frames and covers from www.twowests.co.uk Not cheap, one each year was my Christmas present to me. They work out to about £70 complete. Zips one side for easy access. Beryl. PS not badger proof though and the foxes love to b...

Re: Repairing enviromesh
Richard with an H, I've been looking at the glues on Amazon and asked a couple of questions, I am getting some feed back and think I have made up my mind to get some and try.
Many thanks.

Re: Repairing enviromesh
Thanks OH. I definitely am not good at everything. DIY in particular. I am told I strangle a hammer and as for an electric drill, well I don't think we will go into that; John would turn over in his grave if he could see what I have done to his tools.

Re: Repairing enviromesh
Thank you Pa Snip. I do have 2 and half full size plots all paved, acquired gradually I might add over the years by my husband and myself when no one wanted them. Now it has been only me to maintain and work them for the last 8 years. The slabs cost us very little really the majority are second hand...

Re: Repairing enviromesh
The cover in question is one of these, it fits quite firmly over the frame, not much room for drawing holes together. I do the same as you on netting Westie but I don't think it would work on a frame as large as this but thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Repairing enviromesh
Mmmm, I will have to think about sewing. I was rather hoping to avoid that. It is a large cover with several smallish holes, if you can imagine what a badger or fox can do with it's claws when up on it's hind legs.
Thanks for suggestion though I really will give it some thought.

Re: Repairing enviromesh
Oh thanks for that info Sally and Peter. My DIY skills are not very good so don't hold your hopes up. We could do with something like the old inner tube bicycle tyre repair kits couldn't we. I have some odd pieces I can try with first before I make a mess of the covers. Will report back in due cours...

Repairing enviromesh
I am now sorting my various enviromesh covers ready for use later. Although washed before put away for the winter I now find a few holes caused by either badgers or foxes. As they fit quite tight over the frame not something I could sew together to repair. A patch maybe? very slippery stuff to sew a...

Re: Planting Raspberry canes
Thank you Tony for that info. I have just had 5 freebies delivered from the Daily Mail. I've not had much luck with Autumn ones before and this time have allocated them much more space..

Re: Broad beans
Thank you all, I do grow lots of flowers, marigolds etc. but on the allotment when it gets very dry that's when the black fly are a nuisance but I have lived with them a long time so a few more years won't hurt.

Re: Broad beans
Thanks Monika, I must admit common sense was rather telling me the same thing. It's back to putting up with the black fly I think.

Broad beans
I am soon to sow my broad beans 'Robin Hood', they are a low growing variety which I have had very good crops from these last 3 years however the second sowing does still attract the black fly even if I pinch out the tops. Has anyone tried growing them under enviromesh before? I ask because I can't ...
