Re: How long did your non-stick last ?

Plumpudding, I rarely use a frying pan, only for eggs, it is the stir fry pans that I go through; that will be the real test for me when I replace it.

Re: Planting Raspberry canes

Thank you JB. My canes are growing away very well and already throwing out fruiting spurs, I am looking forward to trying the berries this year as I renewed my summer canes as well last spring so won't get anything till next year on those.

Re: How long did your non-stick last ?

I've been getting rid of a lot of my older larger non stick saucepans and replacing with ceramic smaller ones. Too early to say how long they will last but so far I love 'em. Black outside with white interior, and nothing as yet has stained or stuck and they wash so easily. Next to replace will be s...

Re: Recycling Deep Fat Fryer Basket

Yes, well done Mr. Snip. I did a similar thing with an old wire flour sifter some years ago now. Worked well for small amounts.

Re: Asparagus

I live near the sea too, I wouldn't try forking it into the soil, you may damage the crowns. Use it as a winter mulch and it will rot down.

Re: Asparagus

Very interesting Geoff, many thanks, reassuring to know I am doing most things right. My bed is producing some lovely spears now so I think I will still give the salt a miss though.

Re: Asparagus

New one on me, but I do give mine a dressing of wood ash and a friend of mine always collects sea weed for hers. Maybe that's where the salt bit comes in.

Re: A Munty

Yes they are more shaded Monika but they aren't any different to the ones on the outside. Maybe the outside flowers get pollenated first. I still get a very heavy crop.

Re: A Munty

Very interesting discussion - thanks everyone; think I will stick with my 2 rows either side of the path that grow across the top into a small tunnel. I can walk between and still pick the beans hanging down easily. Takes up far less space.

A Munty

Has anyone tried growing their beans/peas this way? I had not heard of a Munty frame before till this week-end. So far I cannot see any advantage to any of the conventional methods and it appears to takes up more space. Maybe giving a heavier crop I don't know.

I Googled these pictures.
