Re: CATCH UP

Well done on tidying yours, was much stuff disposed of?

Of the two sheds at the volunteer site, there is one which desperately needs clearing. But there is lots of stuff I need to move on, I'm trying to work out how to shiift it.

Welcome - we love hearing of gardening beyond the UK. There will be similarities and interesting differences.

Re: Late Autumn Bits and Bobs.

It is very sad that forums like this are losing out to Facebook. I can see the decline in the car club forum too and the speed of decline is rising. I regard it as a retrograde move for reasons of searchability and access. (this along with the data harvesting) If your post on FaceAche doesn't get pi...

Re: Late Autumn Bits and Bobs.

Dry today, so I got a lot of clearing up done at the garden. Mostly burning old, rotten timbers.

Re: Tomato blight

My theory is that growing bush tomatoes in hanging baskets allows the breeze to disperse the spores of blight. My experience is similar but keeping the toms alive this year in the drought was a challenge.

I think the "reduce, reuse, recycle" mantra is reinforced by the reports.

Re: Having one of those days!

I was being sensible in that I used a lidded, insulated mug to take my cup of coffee up to the study this afternoon. Then stupidly, I took the lid off because it is so much better to drink from an open top. Then knocked it and coffee went all over the carpet. However, that isn't as bad as bur...

Home composting and "compostable" bags

I'm not surprised by this report: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/nov/03/greenwash-home-compostable-plastics-dont-work-aoe In my opinion, much of the blame lies with the packaging manufacturers. They use weasel words like "biodegradable" which usually means it is pl...

Re: Late Autumn Bits and Bobs.

I'm sorry to hear that several people have suffered damage in the garden/allotment. It has been so wet that I haven't been up to the 'lottie.

Indeed plenty of weeds growing well still.
Must plant some more winter salad stuff while the weather is sympathetic.
