Can anybody explain why spaces between rows are usually bigger than the space between plants.

Example:
"Plant shallot sets 25cm (10in) apart in rows 40cm (16in) apart from mid-November to mid-March."

1 Research Books (free at library), Magazines, Attend Gardening Clubs, internet, ask questions, join forums.

2 Take Action Even if it is just to sow one packet of free seeds you come across.

There is plot that has raised beds but soil in side beds is same level as the ground around it.

I have a 7 metre long south facing fence at back of the plot with a ditch behind it.

I would like to grow something that is beneficial/attracts wild life birds/bees/butterflies, grows quick and has bit of bulk to keep wind at bay.

Noticed a darlek bin with slots in the side, first one I have seen like this.

Another thought on pallet verses darlek.

There are gaps in pallets but not in the darlek as compost needs air could this be reason darlek does not get hot.

What about lining the inside with cardboard?

Since moving to pallet type compost bins the temp has been around 60/70 active/hot where as the darlek type got hot for a few days then dropped off.

Looks like the maintenance all done and working well done the techs

When I get down to the parmesan rind I slice as much off and share it with the dog when I cannot get any more cheese off it I give it to the the dog.

Many a time I have taken cheese out of fridge to find it has gone green, still eat it though.

It's not new I see (2005) but bet it tastes great if there is any left.
