mine ripened so have not tried it - it works with tomatoes so might with chillis too.

Good luck with your new garden, rotovating can actually increase hardpan below the blades also it will break up weeds into more growth from each cut bit. An alternative is to dig out topsoil from the paths and add to the top of raised beds which will give you greater depth of workable soil. If weedy...

Not seen one yet, but my ducks might have eaten a few ! khaki campbell and indian runner ducks are excellent predators of slugs - but don't let them near your lettuce !

Sounds good Colin, found a reduced horseradish that was sprouting in our local supermarket for about 20p - I planted it and its going great guns ! Will try that recipe next year.
i like the golden beet too the leaves make a lovely spinach type greens so nothing is wasted.

vegpatchmum - did u take them off the plant? Have you tried hanging whole plant upside down to ripen them ? My peppers ripened well outdoors too I think they're fine in a sunny sheltered spot

I agree with Johnboy, one year my runners grew huge bulbous roots I couldn't remember the variety though, other varieties form much less. So easy to save seeds and heritage varieties breed true. I have saved my wisley magic this year agan.
