Re: Saving Sweet Potato

Brilliant Westi good to see they can be grown in the UK. Have a few growing options for next stage/year, just hoping that I can use what has grown this year rather than buying more slips.

Wondering if the heat from my compost could be used to keep them warm over winter storage.

Re: Microplastics in the soil

I used to shred the window envelopes until I got fed up removing the plastic strips from my compost. I now tear off the plastic window before shredding.

Had a full day on the plot filling new beds with home made compost, just before I left I counted 7 thought I had made 8.... Another senior moment.

It the schools have good planning the harvest could be done by the enthusiastic kids and given to the food bank. Schools are missing a great opportunity to get children ...

Re: Sweet Pepper Long Red Marconi

I grow these as well usually eat before they get red as do not find they taste any different. Found my chillies have been late getting hot. Any way you can tell by looking if they are hot?

I believe if your compost heap gets hot then any damage plant can be put there.

"We covered it last year, but the whitefly was so awful"

Had similar problem last year been spraying with garlic solution which looks to be keeping them away.

Re: Marketing Allotments

Would local schools be interested? Maybe divide a plot up into smaller units with raised beds then use one raised bed to show what can be grown as an example for others to follow and include easy to follow plan. Use the pollytunnel to grow seeds and maybe allow other plot holders to use it. How abou...

Re: Growing from potato peelings

Sounds a good idea however my peeling are thin & go straight into the compost bin.
