Brilliant Westi good to see they can be grown in the UK. Have a few growing options for next stage/year, just hoping that I can use what has grown this year rather than buying more slips.
Wondering if the heat from my compost could be used to keep them warm over winter storage.

Saving Sweet Potato
I have emptied my first bucket of sweet potato not a lot of large veg but there is lot of red roots.
Could I save these for next year & if so what is best way of preserving them?

There was a marrow that looked like a crocodile on gardeners world last night 44 kg ish, I too questioned if the larger sizes taste any better.

I used to shred the window envelopes until I got fed up removing the plastic strips from my compost. I now tear off the plastic window before shredding.

Had a full day on the plot filling new beds with home made compost, just before I left I counted 7 thought I had made 8.... Another senior moment.

Is there a restaurant that could grow their own ... better still a hospital what with all the talk on hospital food at the moment. It the schools have good planning the harvest could be done by the enthusiastic kids and given to the food bank. Schools are missing a great opportunity to get children ...

Thanks Westi, I am growing buckets one is in a cold frame so guess I can just shut the top, the others were in a plastic green house until it go blown down but should be easy make wood fame for the plastic cover.

I grow these as well usually eat before they get red as do not find they taste any different. Found my chillies have been late getting hot. Any way you can tell by looking if they are hot?

I believe if your compost heap gets hot then any damage plant can be put there.

Would local schools be interested? Maybe divide a plot up into smaller units with raised beds then use one raised bed to show what can be grown as an example for others to follow and include easy to follow plan. Use the pollytunnel to grow seeds and maybe allow other plot holders to use it. How abou...

Sounds a good idea however my peeling are thin & go straight into the compost bin.
