Re: arrgh whitefly!
Hi Paul, I presume that you are tapping, on a fairly regulary basis, the plants to disturb the white fly, which leads to more being trapped on your sticky tapes. Alternatively I think that you can buy Ladybirds to release in the greenhouse. I'm not sure if they are available at this time of the year...

Re: Water pump
Hi Virago, The strength of bilge pumps is calibrated by the head height, ie. the difference between the water level being pumped from and the maximum height that it will pump to. Not by the length of hose you intend to use. Also the volume of water pumped in a minute or hour is normaly stated. Obvio...

Re: lawn problems
Hi Connie, You may not need to reseed. The Sulphate of amonia gives a real boost to the grass that's there. If you find reseeding is necessary just roughen the area needing seed and sow as soon as you like.

Be sure to apply before rain is expected, otherwise water it in thoroughly. Afterwards apply Amonium Sulphate as a...

Re: Moss in Lawn!
My word Westi, that looks rather grand.
Regarding moss, I have always used Sulphate of iron applied dry before rain is due. But wait for the moss to die before raking otherwise you will be spreading the moss spores.
Oh,and happy birthday too.
Regards, Diarmuid.

Re: Interesting Facts?
Hi everyone, My father (a plumber) told me that in the early 1900's, he went to work in Venezualan oil fields. He had to travel by boat up a river through the jungle for days to reach the Oil Fields and as they went round a bend, still in the jungle and miles from anywhere, there was an advertising ...

Re: Seaweed compost.
If you google " Island growers turn seaward- The Irish Times" there is quite an informative article on this subject.
I put a mulch of seaweed on my asparagus bed. The asparagus grows up through it and the salt in it deters slugs and snails
