Interesting bit on Grow your own last night.
One of the presenters made a cold frame filled it with grass cutting then compost and planted whole sweet potatoes.
Good idea of adding grass cutting to increase the heat, thought they had to grown from sllps though.

I plant in 6 inches of compost and found first year they fell over. Did the stamp over on all the compost then planting deep & healing found by adding a pole to help them as well.

Perhaps if the buyers were not so particular with the shape of the product (example straight carrots) the farmes could could concentrate on growing better tasting product.

Seen greenhouse with scafolding netting over the outside. Would think with some bunjy/elastic in centre you could fold it back where needed.

Only been to plot once in past 3 weeks due to being laid up so only watering was from whatever rain we have had. Garlic has rust on them, assume nothing I can do to save them.

Three weeks for replacements?
As seeds companies are struggling look at the smaller business found in the back of the magazine or ebay/amazon.
Check out local villages websites and see if they have a gardeners/allotment section or garden clubs most will have or know of spare plants around.

I assume you are putting the canes inside the heating pipe, have you thought about attaching outside using cable ties?
