Clay loam?
Some of you may have noticed that I'm a tropical fruit fanatic. Unfortunately I'm not a tropical climate fanatic and the area I live in is also far from tropical. This does not stop me from trying a few things here and there, just for fun. The other day I succesfully germinated a star fruit seed ! T...

Re: Kiwano (horned melon)
Kiwanos' growth is massive! How do people even tame these wild ones? I can already feel this getting out of hand real quick. Do people just cut the top off their cucumber or melon plants to stop their growth? Does that even help? Don't want these big guys to take over the walls and ceiling too They ...

That's what I was thinking too and if people re-use the rubber ones too, only the product lifespan would make the difference.

Re: Rubber Trays
May I ask what the advantages are of using rubber trays? I'm using and re-using plastic ones.

Re: Tiny green hairs between new leaves on apple and pear tree, what are these?
It was actually out of curiosity, I think they look very healthy really. Thank you for this explanation, sally! Now that you say it, I never see them on older trees. Those are barely 3 years old, the varieties are Cox' Orange Pippin (apple) and Doyenne du Comice (pear) but they were very cheap as th...

That's a fruit I've honestly never heard of before. Would love to try those too another year! By the way, I have sent you a private message.

Kiwano (horned melon) seeds give-away!
Because some people mentionned that they have never heard of those, here's a little give-away for the curious amongst us! Please keep in mind that I'm sending those from the Netherlands so it may take a moment to reach your location, depending on where you are. Who wants to give them a try? I alread...

Tiny green hairs between new leaves on apple and pear tree, what are these?
First time growing an apple tree and a pear tree in containers. Now that spring is knocking on the door, new leaves start to grow. I see tiny green hairs between the leaves on both plants. Does anyone know what these are? Screenshot_20190416-181721_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20190416-181734_Gallery.jpg

Not sure where to buy them in other countries but I'm giving bhut jolokia pepper a try. I have been told they are extremely hot. Just the pepper you're looking for!

Re: Kiwano (horned melon)
My first attempt kiwano plants are doing great! Think they need a little more sunlight as they become larger and ask for more. I also grow melons and cucumbers but kiwano appears to grow so much faster! Absolutely love this plant, hope for the best

Re: Let me introduce you to my tiny little heaven!
Elmigo, better to condition yourself to... You're probably right. I wonder how real farmers go about this! Do they all spray chemicals? I'd rather have some unhealthy looking crops than do that to my future food. The balcony is only on the first floor. May need to create some nets to at least get t...

Re: Let me introduce you to my tiny little heaven!
I was idly browsing some YouTube... Beautiful, thank you! I've heard of that before. Currently I'm sprouting tomatoes but it is a stem variety, not the tumbling ones. Might give them a try too. Everything looks so healthy and... The thing about having such healthy looking plants is, it makes me par...

Re: Let me introduce you to my tiny little heaven!
Just figured it might be fun to share some of the crops I am currently trying to grow in containers, so you get some idea of how much you can do with relatively little space. So here are some of the crops those are not even all of them! 20190407_122031_20190414182642309_20190414182753409.jpg 1. Spin...

Does anyone know what my bush bean is doing?
Currently I'm growing bush beans indoors at the window because it's way too cold outside. With limited space I got no greenhouse and I was sort of experimenting around. Today I noticed one of my bush bean plants leaves getting yellowish spots between its veins and eventually weirdly curling up to th...
