My French beans in the greenhouse are getting so tall now about 9-12 inches they have their long curly bits which need supporting. The days are not too bad here on the South Coast but the nights are still chilly. Do I risk planting out or not? Such decisions.

Spring starts for me when the blossom breaks. My plum trees are a picture, the Magnolias are out and so is the Forsythia. With the wallflowers in full flower and the bees are busy humming - wonderful.

Well done Primrose, That patch should need any more digging then.

Primrose, If the soil is turned over when crops come out it is the heavy digging that isn't necessary.

Westi, I have been using Le Creuset since the 70's. I still use the casserole but the saucepans I gave to my daughter when they became to heavy for my wrists. The first time she used them the linings chipped. I was told it was because she had filled them with cold water straight after using to soak....

I think you maybe right Richard with an H, I have now changed over to ceramic and use a lower heat and so far very pleased with them.

I collect up all the leaves from my fruit trees and add them to the compost bin in small quantities with all the other green waste. No problems with them rotting down that way.

Maybe standard trees are different and take longer.

Yes, I do agree with you it does look very good stuff. I am sorry if I was being too critical but really just agreeing how difficult it is to obtain good manure delivered. I am sure when spread on your beds it will give very good results.

We are fortunate to have one that also needs his lorry for his business. A 3 ton load rotted which is as near as I can judge th...

No one has mentioned buying through their allotment association which must be the cheapest way if you have one and belong; Not all of you do I know. We pay just £1. per kilo for all varieties except the specialist ones.
