Not the same, I know, but I grew Mangetout last year very successfully, and the only reason I mention this is because I did it in the manner to which Tigger is referring, in short lengths of guttering. When they were of a 'transferable' stage, I slid them out of the guttering (sideways, NOT lengthwa...

I KNOW IT, I KNOW IT !!

Listen, I know I can be a smart-arse at the best of times, but I didn't spend all those years 'not getting out much' because I was addicted to just LEARNING.... and I just KNEW there would be a day when I could be of use.... Jenny, I reckon it's a member of the Polygonum (Knotweed family), and varie...

(F)Artichokes

Yes, I'd heard something similar alan, only it was in relation to eating vegetarian food as opposed to poultry, meat, fish and vegetables. After a while, your insides get used to it all, and you cease to be/feel an embarassment...

Tornado Leeks

JB, I've only grown Musselburgh before now. What does Tornado do different to Musselburgh.? Earlier, better, longer-standing, hardier, less prone to bolting ??
I'm intending on sowing it end Jan/early Feb, unless you've got a better suggestion.
Best wishes,
Wellie

I beg to differ actually. Carol was VERY much herself, for a change, full of 'natural' enthusiasm, which translated well. This is the heart of why people should consider growing their own, for the sheer wonder of it all and the sense of achievement. The crops are the added bonus, that's not always g...

Nah! Piece of Cake!

You'll fall free as a bird as long as you relax. Once you reach the required altitude and you're strapped to Mr. Gorgeous, your beautiful butt's on the edge of that open doorway, and the choice isn't yours anymore, trust me. I'd have gone straight back up and done it again once my feet hit the groun...

Grocky ! You're my kind of lady.... I did a tandem leap from 12,500ft about 10 years ago, from (I think) Weston-on-the-Green. There were two other girls (who I didn't know) and we all got a jolly good talking to first of all and a demonstration of how the parachutes were packed, AND the 'reserve', s...
