Dear Weed, love the avator. Weed, I find it very strange that your well rotted stable manure caused problems, was it actually horse droppings mixed with straw. At one time horse manure was nearly always used the same year, the fresh manure was brought in, turned two or three times depending on condi...

Dear Lynne, a very warm welcome, as i read on another topic that these are your first posting. As for your horse manure, it sounds as if it is about a year old to me, i would have thought the stuff you saw many, many years ago was probably about two or three years old. Theres no reason why you can n...

Dear Lynne, i'm afraid i don't own one myself, but i did take a very close look at the coldframes and greenhouses at one of the big gardening shows. I have to say i was very impressed with the quality of the workmanship, and overall i think they are probably worth their money. They often have a sale...

Dear Tigger, you do seem to be having some awful bad luck with your wildlife this year.
Are you going to try the incense burner with chilli powder on it. :?: :D

Dear Primrose you might be on to something here, i wonder if it could be a deterrent to whitefly or the like.
Maybe chilli powder on an incense burner, if it works Primrose you get all the credit.
Now i don't suppose i will get any whitefly to try it out.

If you drink three pints of water before you start, you should be able to give it a good soaking and also not get dehydrated. :D

Dear JoJoB, not all potatoes chit that freely, pink fir apple is another one that doesn't, so i wouldn't worry about the Moulin Rouge.
Theres even a lot of discussion going on at the moment whether it's worth chitting at all.
I do still chit my potatoes by the way.

Dear JoJoB, and Primrose, it's either not enough light due to short days or not enough light getting on the plants, or it's to warm for the amount of light they are getting.
It's what i class as them growing to soft, and trying to force them on unnaturaly.

Sorry to be an old stick in the mud. :)
