Re: Planting Raspberry canes

I know this is an old topic - but I didn't know if anyone had any updated experience with Polka? I'm looking at getting a collection with it in and wondered how it fruits.

Re: How you know you have the gardening bug...

... When you count your seedlings and gulp...
77 tomato plants and 94 chilli/pepper plants...
Frantically putting holes in the bottom of the bulk-buy buckets (for future use).

Re: A P(l)otted History

Newbie question alert :)

How do you know the crop output of the fruit and veg?

Are you estimating / weighing each crop / other?

It would be good to know how "fruitful" my fruit and veg are being :)

Re: Newbie tip (from a newbie!)

LOVE the idea of coloured / shaped pots!

Will have to start lableling next time... Got a few rogue peppers/chillies in the tomato line... They're trying VERY hard to blend in.... but well... they're not tomatoes!

What are people using to label jiffy pots? (or is it easier to just use pots?)

Loving this topic :)
It's great to see a piece of land go from unloved to loved. Also amazing to see the transformation.

Newbie tip (from a newbie!)

Something I have found VERY useful. I'm growing my seedlings in unmarked jiffy pots, but in labeled lines. They do occassionally get mixed up during watering (as I take them out of the lines). I've found growing 1 line of tomato, next to 1 line of peppers is very useful. As you can ID which line the...

Re: Plant pots

I've taken a long deep breath and gone around with the scissors... There are now a lot more "1 plant per pot" than there were... Also, I've stated potting the chillies up to the 1st set of leaves to help with legginess. Will be sharing out the plants, so I keep the best to focus my attenti...

Plant pots

I'm starting off my fruit&veg garden &have jumped in with both feet. Having read that you should plant 3 times as much as you need, as there will be a lot of failure ect... I'm now left with a lot of seedlings/new plants to grow on (as ALL the seeds sprouted! ). I'm fast running out of small...
