Re: Flu jab.

Thanks Westi I must admit I was seriously poorly the pain in my head was so extreme that I sat on the landing crying and rocking for hours not knowing what to do. The first week of my illness I can't remember what I did eating, sleeping or anything. I always thought it was the flu jab but now I have...

Re: Flu jab.

Many years ago I had a flu jab through work as a "perk". One week later I was hit with the worst flu I have ever had. I was in bed for two weeks, off work for three, had the doctor out twice (that was when doctors came on visits, our's don't) I was almost put into hospital with what was po...

Re: Horse fly bite remedies please

Thanks Primrose I did see my Pharmacist and he gave me the cream and also said the same thing about the red swelling. I have put lavender oil and a cold cloth on it at the moment. If it is no better tomorrow I will go to the A&E if I can't get to see anyone at the doc's. Our doctor does the tria...

Horse fly bite remedies please

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas/remedies on how to control a horse fly bite. I have been bitten for the second time and have had a really bad reaction again. The first time I was bitten on the front of my leg and it had a huge lump, a swelling and red stain all the way down my leg. My leg wa...

Tomato sauce

We have had a lot of tomatoes of various sizes, the big ones were tasteless, for some unknown reason. So over the last two days I have been roasting the tomatoes in a low oven with garlic and thyme and a drizzle of olive oil salt and (tellicherry black peppercorns) (I have discovered these peppercor...

Re: Clouds and sunsets

We were lucky enough to spend a week in the Cotswolds at the beginning of September in a cottage in the middle on nowhere. There was no light pollution so we could see beautiful sunsets and sunrises and the stars were magnificent. We saw the milky way so many times. It was fabulous. How do I post ph...

Re: In celebration of tomatoes!

Well of all the times I get the magazine this is the one which I have missed. My friend and I get two gardening magazines and swap each month. But this month she has been away on holiday and had family matters to sort out so forgot to buy it. I only found out today so I have been in every single loc...

Re: Today from our allotment we ate!

Hi Primrose, don't you think that the blackberries are amazing this year. We have been out for a walk today and I have never seen so many ripe, big blackberries before. We don't grow runner beans but our Kale is looking good. Have you tried Kale and Chickpea curry from Sarah Raven it is fabulous.

Today from our allotment we ate!

Today I picked our very first sweetcorn cob. It was amazing to eat. For our evening meal tonight we have had carrots, tenderstem broccoli, climbing french beans and half the sweetcorn cob each and a few peas all from our allotment with a lovely beef in beer casserole from Ainsley Herriots recipe boo...
