tatties

Hi Jane,

a few people have said that British Queen is great hence my purchase, I bought Anya as well as pfa thinking it was an early rather than main crop but was foiled on that one.

The harvest will tell, slugs and blight permitting.

Chantal, buy those pigs and save their bacon, keep them in the outhouse and the snorting and farting they are honour bound to do will cause lil ol mousey to pack his bags and move somewhere far far away. You will of course need some crusty bread and brown sauce for the pigs when they have done their...

The Crown prince pumpkin was also very welcome, I just hope that the dreaded seville marmalade tastes as good as the pumpkin looks. Chantal, all the barrel...

Have you ever tried Mamade? As said in an earlier post I cant taste the difference having made it both ways but then I cant taste the diffence between 1987 and 1992 Chateau Neuf du Pape. To be honest whether you chop up fresh oranges or use tinned, by the time you have boiled it up to setting point ...

Grock,

Grock, I fear that you have been cooking with aluminium pans for too long Tescos are a bit odd with things like that. I once spent half an hour looking for pudding rice, believe it or not in the rice section only to find it with the tinned rice pudding. The same with the ma made, I looked in the fru...

I have heard good reports about Red Duke of York, but have gone for British Queen and Anya to follow Lady Christl and as maincrop Pink Fir apple, Rooster, King Edward and Sarpo Axona. Is it me or does the immense choice of tattie turn you into a gibbering wreck wondering if you have picked the "...

Lady Christl

Hi Chez,

I tried Lady Christl last year with good results, lots of even sized tubers that are very early. I think that it has an AGM given to it to boot

Hi Chez, one of the gardening magazines suggested buying a "taster pack" of your favourite early tatties nad bunging them in the recesses of your fridge until September, then planting them in containers in your greenhouse so that you get new potatoes for Christmas. We actually did this las...

The aluminium residues given off by aluminium pans can over time help to bring on Alzheimers disease according to research my wife dug up (she works in the mental health field). Even if this has been debunked it cannot do your body any favours.

So, stainless steel it is then.
