Re: Omelette.

Ooh, eggy bread! We've not had that for at least a year. Cooked in a nice hot pan with fried tomatoes and perhaps some crispy bacon on the top.

I know what I'm cooking this weekend, you can keep the omelette! :D

Re: Mid Winter Bits and Bobs.

So much for doing a bit of allotment work today. We went down to get some muck from our regular Sunday drop off, but thick snow caused a real problem. I was pushing a barrow with a solid wheel and it just kept picking up packed snow until it stopped turning as the wheel was too big. I had to kick al...

Re: When to Sow peas to avoid Pea Moth?

I know how you feel Tony! When I first got my allotment, I used to put scary things in and around the cabbages to deter the birds. That was about it. Now we have crop protection over just about everything except the beetroot, parsnips and potatoes. It makes weeding so much more difficult. :(

Re: Blackberry

Hi Tracie

We have one that came from Aldi. Don't know if a variety was given, but they have them every year. Thornless, huge lovely tasting fruit and masses of them.

Re: Hollow cabbages

Thanks Monika, I don't think I'm guilty of any of those sins. The bed had been topped from the compost bin; I stamped around on the soil to firm before planting; watered, then firmed around the plants; the bed is in full sun; I only used growmore on the bed. I honestly think, somehow, that they were...

Re: Mid Winter Bits and Bobs.

I'm about to head out in the rain to our allotment, mercifully it's only half a mile away. I need a bunch of rosemary and a few other herbs. I do have some in the garden, but I need my exercise and we have sleet/snow forecast for later today.

Re: Interesting Facts?

I love quiz shows (having a TV does help) but Pointless is, to me, utterly pointless. I've tried to watch it, but lose the will to live. I'm still celebrating getting 15 questions right on University Challenge! Admittedly it was was a Christmas one and featured "celebrities" (I only recogn...

Re: Hollow cabbages

Interesting.

I didn't give these cabbages any feed. have quite high raised beds filled with well rotted compost out of our bins, which include lots of horse muck.

They were grown in the same medium as all the other cabbages, which were/are fine. It was just this little group of 6.

Hi Monika, anything is possible I guess, but they were well watered, that's one thing I'm good at! :)

Carefully would have been the word! There was only 2 or 3 leaves around the massive hole in the middle. :(

Re: Interesting Facts?

What a lovely story and how amazing!

I very much enjoy learning about inventors and especially the industrial revolution. One of my favourite TV series is Seven Wonders of the Industrial World. When you see what they were up against, it makes it even more remarkable.

Re: KG February out?

There's something on the KG website apologising for the delay, can't recall why, but it's not all down to the vagaries of Royal Mail.

It's certainly a theory OH. No-one I've spoken to has ever seen anything like it.

They made good compost. Sigh...
