I have to agree whole-heartedly with Allan and Tony. I have moved from heavy clay to a relatively light medium-sandy soil and, after a year, am still amazed at how much easier it is to dig and weed now. And, since I am not now surrounded by weedy plots I think I could get away with not digging once ...

Hi Jennie, It is not actually true that GM always involves introducing completely 'alien' genes, or that this kind of process doesn't happen in nature. But leaving that aside, has anyone any idea how Adora potatoes came to have 30% less carbohyrdrates than 'normal' potatoes? And can they really mash...

I would remind everyone that new NON-GM crops are NOT tested and that in the past these have caused problems - too much of the green stuff in a potato, irritating courgettes, etc. Given the increasing number of new varieties that are produced every year this really is a very, very big loophole. Hi Johnboy,

Claret has never been that late (early June) with me and is usually over well before then. Would it be possible to use Bordeau to be ready June by raising it under glas and planting out say March? Marshalls describe Garnet as a replacement for Rudolph.
