Just looked at "ediblegarden" and was thrown a little until I realised it is a New Zealand site therefore we should read south for north etc. It looks a good informative site though.

Thank you all very much for all the thought that has gone into the answers. I am loath to use creosote as I intend growing plants up the structures.Do you think Cuprinol would do the same job? Willow taking root

I have a willow which I coppice. I would like to make obelisks etc from the cuttings. Can anyone advise how I can stop them from rooting please.

Thanks a lot O.H. and Beryl, I will take your advice and leave alone. I must admit one thought I had was that they were chewing the compost But when I spread it where will they move on to.
