One of the great joys of allotmenteering is that there is no government directive on how tis done. I may be a shedless wonder, but my plot boasts a unique collection of hand crafted compost bins (which have been universally admired I may add ) and an embryo veg cage - I will have peas this year desp...

Could be different but nice. Could revert to be more like one of the parent varieties, or some latent genetics can ...

I think you are right Granny. Cows and other animals that chew the cud have multiple stomachs and keep the grass fermenting away inside them for much longer. I've never eaten horse, but I have bought and cooked goat in a west indian style curry. Very nice it was too. My husband is a bit of a wild fo...

Had a good weekend?
Apologies in advance to anyone who has had rotten weather, but at last my weekend off coincided with decent weather The allotment is too wet to dig, but harvested some leeks. Then strode about purposefully making grand plans for this year At home replaced the wooden edges for 3 of the raised beds at...

They are usually from Taylors Bulbs and are cheap rubbish. A fellow plot holder tried them last year o...

Thanks all - looks like we are rather over-egging it with our prices then Guess what OH - I did have another trip and we nearly missed the plane again. This time a visit to Germany. We flew out last Monday and came back Tuesday pm. I couldn't get herself shifting Monday morning so we left work late ...
