Potatoes

I lost all the tops of my potatoes with blight last week, first early, second and main. I have chopped all the tops off the potatoes. Tonight I picked some main crop for our tea and when I peeled and cut them up I found a black beetle in a hole in the potato. Has anyone found this before?

Re: Favourite books?

I read cookery books, I know it's sad but I love looking through cookery books. I do a lot of cooking, never make puddings or sweets but I must have more than a hundred cookery books. My OH dreads me going in to Tesco because they have lots of cookery books.

The weather has been appalilng here day after day with very little break in the rain. Our village had some flooding but nothi...

Re: Sometimes it pays to wait.

We booked a holiday cottage for next September with the owner of the cottage (we stayed there last September) She put the price up by £15 from this year. We liked it so much we booked. Then the same day last week we got an email from a Holiday Cottage company who also advertised the cottage we had b...

Re: Early Winter Bits and Bobs.

A friend of mine lives is a large "executive house" which is three stories high and on Sunday during the worst of the weather here which was around 12.30pm/ 1pm she had all her ridge tiles and some of her roof tiles blown off her house in a particularly bad squall. Her front garden looks l...

Re: Early Winter Bits and Bobs.

We went to check out allotment twice yesterday the wind was so strong. We are lucky that we have trees surrounding out whole allotment and we have found over 15 years we have been there that we are pretty well protected from the wind from the west. But when the wind from the east starts we are in bi...

Thanks for that Peter. I thought I had old messages from Monika and OH. I must admit I hadn't checked them for a while, I just thought I had more pm's than that. Sorry to be any trouble.

Re: Early Winter Bits and Bobs.

Geoff, we went for a walk this morning and the wind actually stopped us in our tracks. Then the rain came and it has been really dreadful. And our weather station battery gave up and we don't have a spare. So the interesting weather that we are having at the moment won't be registered. :x
