Re: Festive talk.
Primrose........ I have those spike things for my shoes (a fall could be catestrophic for me) and they are fabulous. Just give you that extra grip on the ice and are well worth the money. It's like an ice rink here too. Even the grit has frozen over.

Re: Stollen help please
JB, I am exactly the same. Adore almonds, hate marzipan. Cant stand the stuff. When I was a little ankle biter, my old mum would make a Christmas cake every year (my mum is a fantastic cook) and, cos she loved marzipan, there would be a thick layer of the stuff all over it. And I remember my Dad wou...

Re: Are you all snowed in ?
Still all snowy and very icy here. The daytime temperature yesterday didnt get over -7.5 degrees (according to my new cars outside thermometers) and when I checked last night it had got to -13. Down the road in Crosby it was -17 which is so unusual on the coast. The whole of the beach in Formby is c...

Re: Solstice greetings
And a happy Solstice to you all. I was supposed to have been at Glastonbury Tor last night, as we'd been planning a short break there, but the weather has knackered that up. It would've been fab too with all the ice and snow but never mind.

Re: Are you all snowed in ?
We've had about 4 inches here which is very unusual and it has frozen hard. This is our second lot of snow which is again very unusual. The daytime temp hasnt been above freezing for most of November/December and the dogs favourite pond/waddling hole is under 7 inches of ice. To be fair to Liverpool...

Re: Cold winters
I just think all these changes are part of the earths natural cycle of warming and cooling and just need to be adapted to. My partner has bought me spikes so I can be safer on the ice, cos a fall could be catestrophic for me. I keep the cupboards and freezer stocked in case I cant get out and plenty...

Re: Stollen help please
Here's the link for the recipe m I hate marzipan. It's one of the few things that I just cant stand. But my old mum loves it and she's very partial to stollen. Plus, I thought it would be a nice addition to her annual sticky toffee pudding, and James Martins receipe for said toffee pud is the very b...
