Re: Mid Summer Bits and Bobs.

If you fancy a bit of reading just google "how much energy does it take to desalinate water" for all sorts of articles.

And even more to produce hydrogen.

Re: I wish... (for my birthday)

I wouldn't. In a smaller form, my brother in llaw and sister had something similar and it was fiddly, required special wood chips and cooked just a single pizza at a time. I'd stick to walking ten minutes. However, here is a review: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2017/dec/13/uuni-pro-pizza...

But Stravaig the next occupants have let it go to seed. :( (there needs to be a weeping emoticon)

Re: Mid Summer Bits and Bobs.

I remember such a computer Primrose. We cycled through three HUGE drives, today's work, yesterday's work and the day before's work. I have no idea how big (i.e. small) they were. I was working with this between 1981 to 1983.

Re: The most exciting news of the year so far (as far as I am concerned!)

I agree with you both. It makes me both sad and angry. One thing in particular that I learnt is that the "black material covering the ground" only works while the material is down. Take it up after a year and woosh, the dormant seeds underneath burst forth with added vigour. You are only p...

We relinquished that extra half-plot at renewal time 1 October. We felt we were not exploiting it to its full potential and we knew there were 44 people on the waiting list. We thought we were onto a winner when we met the family who took it on and they went on to construct an excellent looking fram...

Sometimes I'm surprised Australians reach adulthood with so many venomous snakes & spiders, box jellyfish and sharks.

Purple (purple cascade) are a little behind. And on the plate, nearly as promised. Steamed the purple do keep some colour. ...

Re: Mid Summer Bits and Bobs.

I use a siphon to empty the bath onto the flower beds,

How very well organised Retro. My bathroom is in the middle of the house and windowless, it would require a decent length of hose to reach a useful point.
