Re: Growing lights

What kind of lamps do you use? Only white? I use white, red and blue. They give good results. Although white diodes are said to work, plants do not stretch.

Re: Late Summer Bits and Bobs.

We were cutting back potato haulms in our older compost heap this morning when I noticed three healthy avocado seedlings about 12 inches high growing in there It reminded me of the sixties and seventies when people thought it fashionable to keep the stones and try to germinate them but I know they'...

Re: Blossom End rot

This problem could be due to excess moisture. The leaves, with an abundant amount of water, grew large and under them the soil dries out poorly, since neither the sun falls on it, nor there is normal air circulation. Try thinning the leaves so that the ground beneath them breathes and evaporates nor...

Re: Wildlife photographs

The photos are very beautiful! Do you shoot them with your phone or camera? My phone just doesn't take great pictures. Photo quality, detail is not very good. My thoughts go back to buying a good camera so that I can save all the interesting moments. I looked at several reviews, now I read informati...

Re: Carrots

Have you ever had such pests? If not, then it is highly advisable to treat the site with an insecticide, because these pests can overwinter and next year spoil your harvest again. If this happens every year, you need to look for a source, perhaps even on your site.

Re: Tomato conundrum

This really happens from an excess of fertilizers and moisture. Tomatoes grow stems and leaves, but they bloom less and give less yield. Again, watering 2 times a week with how much water? Possibly excess water.

Re: Burns Night coming up...

Let's think backwards. When you come to a party, are you offered a personalized menu, or do you eat what the party organizers have prepared? I think no. To adapt to the wishes of everyone and to cook 3 dishes individually for everyone is not preparation for a party, but hard labor. You can make some...

Re: A recomended toaster?

We have been using the Tefal toaster for several years and so far there have been no reasons for complaints. The build quality is good and the toaster runs smoothly. Interestingly, we use the toaster every day, but it works. And a couple of years after it they bought a blender, they rarely used it, ...

Re: PEAthetic Pea Crop

We, too, once tried the net, it defended our season and then at the end of the season they threw it out along with the already dried pea shoots. The next year they made something like a grid with their own hands. They dug in 2 pillars, stretched the wire vertically and horizontally. Between horizont...

Be careful, you never know what else will start. Then it was not enough to call an ambulance. I myself live in a private house and do not mind the animals that are sometimes on my site, but I still prefer to be careful.

Re: Battery power tools

I would advise you to take tools from trusted manufacturers. They may cost significantly more, but the likelihood that they will last longer is much higher. And if something happens, it will be easier to get spare parts.

I would also advise to treat the tree (and preferably those trees that are nearby) with a fungicide. Search the internet for a suitable option or ask at a farm store.

Re: Cabbage White Butterfly Eggs

It is better to crush the eggs. On the ground, they can hatch and some larvae can crawl to the plant and begin to eat it. The pest must be fought seriously. Although this is an endless process, some kind of infection will surely arrive and start.
