Re: Rubber Trays

Sally Thanks for the explanation which makes sense. As being 18 miles from nearest B & Q plus it being in city is a big deterrent from visiting them, hence why I rely upon the council doing their bit, I pay enough for the service. Fortunately in my community when there is stuff a house holder do...

Re: Rubber Trays

"There's a post on Facebook saying b an q are happy to have plastic pots and trays brought in for recycling" I wonder if they are recycled or go into land fill? Hi Westi, I used scaffolding boards to surround beds, then learnt that you can walk on composted beds to weed/plant, so am trying...

Re: Rubber Trays

Quote from supplier website "So when you buy our seed trays, you ensure the survival of a valuable, natural resource."

A lot of good alternatives are being suggested here but I am not seeing any suppliers/manufacturers promoting alternatives to non recycled plastic.

Re: Rubber Trays

"Rubber is less environmentally friendly than most plastic as it won't recycle." Interesting comment wonder what happens to all the car tyres are they in land fill with the plastic? No way the plastic seed tray I have will last 30 years some are cracking up after first year, they are so fl...

Re: Brassicas

Hi All, thank you very much for your replies which very interesting and informative. I learnt the first year that brassicas need firm planting in my beds, as had to support the Brussels sprout stem to stop them falling over. I think I have got on top of the broccoli as had great results this year, s...

Got the free brassicas offer last year purple broccoli & kale brilliant, 2 cabbages out of 10 and 1 cauliflower. Suspect there was a mix up with cabbages & cauliflower. The last 2 cauliflowers do not have tight white heads plus I had 2 brown head rejects and one that does not have any head. ...

"Anyone tried coffee grounds? My stepdaughter works at Costa so have an endless supply."

Not for slugs but they are good for composting & I believe spreading on the planting.
