I have got mares tail on one of my allotments, you must try to dig every bit out. The roots are black and a bit tricky to see in the soil.DONT rotivate or you will nevewr get rid of it. Mine is a lot better this year, i pull it up every time I see it comming through, dont compost any of it take it a...

good for you. Somwhere near the taps( if they have them), away from trees. Take a spade with you and do a test dig, so you can see which one has better soil. If possible try to find out which one was cultivated most recently then hopefully the weeds and weed seeds shouldnot be too bad. Happy digging

I have eventually tracked down some of these rare seeds for my allotment, but the instructions are in French and for the French climate. Has anyone any experiance in growing these?, if so when should I plant the seeds, (in modules) and when should I plant out. Thanks

sweet peas
plant out and water well with seaweed fertliser. When they are taller take off all the tredrils, the plant doesnot need these and more vigor will go into the leaves and the flowers. Hope this is of assistance

help I have got a kind of beetle in the flowers of my sweet peas, I was hoping to enter them in a local show next week till this happened. Has anybody got any idea how to get rid of them without distroying the flowers. Thanks Tracie. [/i]
