On building sites in the early sixties, they used a grading frame, an "A" frame with mesh on one side, then just chuck a shovel full of sand and gravel at it, the larger stones would roll down the front, I have made one for my plot to remove stones from my sandy soil you can move it around...

If the pupa lives in the ground to overwinter would ground cover work, after harvesting leeks/onions/garlic, plastic sheeting will keep the soil warm to make them hatch quicker, a little garlic powder will not go amiss for the white rot. :mrgreen:

For wasp grubs we used to get a chemical from the chemist (I can't remember what it was called) we soaked paper in it and let it dry ,when you put a light to it the smoke it gave off was unbelievable we would push this into the entrance of the nest and set fire to it then run ,give it half an hour ...

When we were at our son's wedding in Galway, most of the hedging was Fusia's red and yellow very small flowers. :)

Try Amazon, a huge amount of suppliers in some cases free postage, if you're a prime member some products are free postage delivered next day. :wink:

You could soak the pellets in water overnight give it stir, water around plants, saves disturbing the soil. :wink:

You could always use blackjack DPC bitumen paint which is waterbased until dry. :) :mrgreen:

When I get rust on the leeks I cut the tops off down to 1" above the white section the leaves grow back and usually free of rust :)

Hony bees do like ivy at this time of year if we have a hard frost the ivy nectar in the bees stomach crystalizes and kills the bee, the nectar in the combe sets harder than oilseed rape.
